Summary:
The purpose of this research is to develop an optimized prototype of a Spouted Bed of semi-industrial scale, with a production capacity of 10 000 lb / day, for the removal of saponins from varieties and commercial bitter ecotypes of Quinoa, in order to produce dry de-bitter quinoa of quality suitable for export. The research makes use of the results obtained to date in laboratory scale devices, developed at CIPI/CIAA, which have demonstrated the technical feasibility of the process, studying the effectiveness of saponin removal based on some additional geometric variants.
